We have had a busy and exciting month here at Legacy Ministries. Though we try to never mistake busyness for productivity, or productivity for spirituality for that matter, it is a blessing for God to open so many doors and for us to have so much going on.
Most of our efforts have been toward our Legacy Youth Leaders Conference, that will be held in Montgomery on August 9th. We are praying that it will be a meaningful event for hundreds of youth leaders and ultimately impact thousands of students throughout our region.
Our friends at Morningview Baptist Church in Montgomery will be the host for the event and we are working to network with many other churches in the area to plan and promote the event.
The theme of the conference is “Youth and Family Ministry,.” and we will discuss a biblical understanding of how the two primary institutions that God has established in the Bible, the family and the church, work together in the context of youth ministry. We are also excited to have two good friends, who also happen to be extremely qualified, to be our guests speakers for the conference.
Dr. Randy Stinson became Dean of the School of Leadership and Church Ministry at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in August 2006. Dr. Stinson also serves as the President for The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, where Rayanne worked for Randy while we were in Kentucky. Dr. Stinson is a renowned authority on the subject of biblical manhood and womanhood. He has served as a senior pastor as well as other church staff positions. Randy and his wife, Danna, worship at The Ninth and O Baptist Church with their five children: Gunnar, Georgia, Fisher, Eden and Payton.
Steve Wright is the author of reThink and Assistant Pastor of Student Ministries at Providence Baptist Church. Steve has served in student ministry since 1988 and joined the team at Providence in May of 1999. He received a Master of Arts degree in Christian education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His undergraduate degree is from Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. Steve and his wife, Tina, were married in 1989. They are blessed with three children - Sara, William and Tyler.
This is a big event for us and it represents the center of our vision to develop leaders for the next generation by investing in the lives of the people who are investing in the lives of students. It will take unbelievable prayer and financial support to make this event a success. We ask that you join with us in the excitement of being part of something that God is doing and that only God can do.
